Kebanyakan foto dalam Perang Dunia II masih hitam putih. Dave Hall penggemar fotografi tempo dulu (vintage) melakukan hal yang luar biasa dengan mewarnai kembali foto-foto tersebut. Hasil karyanya sangat rapi sehingga bagi yang melihatnya tidak akan percaya kalau foto-foto tersebut berasal dari Perang Dunia II.

Salah satu koleksi foto yang di-retouch oleh Dave Hall adalah Wanita dalam Perang Dunia II karya Alfred T. Palmer yang diperolehnya Library of Congress. Foto-foto tersebut dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah Amerika Serikat untuk mempromosikan patriotisme.
